  • Affordability: Providing a more cost-effective solution than the market leader or alternative flea & tick treatments.

  • Proven Efficacy: Kills fleas and both repels and kills ticks.

  • Vector-Borne Disease (VBD) Risk Reduction: Reduces the transmission risk of canine Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis.

  • Increased Compliance: Up to 8 months* of protection with a single collar, making parasite protection easier for your clients.

  • Target Species: Suitable for both cats and dogs. Ideal for multi-pet households.

  • Continuous Diffusion: Slow release of the molecules from the polymer matrix.

  • Head to Tail Protection: Active ingredients flumethrin and imidacloprid are distributed through the lipid layer.

  • Comfortable Collar: Non-greasy, soft and fits all breeds and sizes.

  • Safety Equipped: With a dual safety mechanism to prevent trapping or choking.

  • Perfect Partners: Combine Prevexto and Milpro to provide complete parasite control.

Prevexto is available in three collar sizes:
- Cats: 38cm (12.5g) containing 1.25g imidacloprid and 0.56g flumethrin
- Small dogs (≤ 8kg): 38cm (12.5g) containing 1.25g imidacloprid and 0.56g flumethrin
- Large dogs (> 8kg): 70cm (45g) containing 4.5g imidacloprid and 2.03g flumethrin

Suitable for cats over 10 weeks of age and dogs over 7 weeks of age.

Clinical characteristics and efficacy

Prevexto utilises injection molding technology to ensure high precision in drug delivery. The collar combines two proven active ingredients:
- Imidacloprid: Acts on contact and by ingestion to kill fleas, flea larvae, and biting lice.
- Flumethrin: Kills ticks on contact and prevents tick attachment and feeding without requiring a blood meal.

The active ingredients are slowly released from the polymer matrix, creating an invisible layer of uninterrupted protection. They distribute evenly through the lipid layer on the pet's skin and coat, ensuring homogenous head-to-tail coverage without systemic absorption.

Dosage & Administration

Apply one collar per animal. The collar is designed for continuous wear, providing up to 8 months* of protection. Prevexto remains effective if the pet becomes wet. However, for maximum duration of activity, clients should be advised to remove the collar before bathing or swimming.

Safety, precautions and storage

Prevexto is equipped with a dual safety mechanism to protect the animal:
- A controlled expansion mechanism widens the collar if a pet gets trapped.
- A 'V' breakaway point is included on collars for cats and small dogs to prevent choking.

Storage: Keep away from food and drinks, including pet food.

FAQs

1. What is the spectrum of efficacy for Prevexto, and what is the duration of protection?

Prevexto offers up to 8-months* continuous protection with a single collar. Reduces the frequency of re-applications and encourages client compliance avoiding protection gaps.

  • Parasite Spectrum: Indicated for the extermination of fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.), flea larvae, and biting lice in dogs (Trichodectes canis).

  • Acaricidal Action: Repels and kills ticks (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus) on contact without requiring a blood meal.

  • Disease Prevention: By preventing attachment and feeding, Prevexto actively reduces the risk of vector-borne pathogen transmission, including canine Babesiosis (Babesia canis) and Ehrlichiosis (Ehrlichia canis).

2. What is the mode of action and pharmacokinetic profile of Prevexto?

Creates an invisible layer of uninterrupted protection on the skin of the pet, due to the slow release of the molecules from the polymer matrix.

  • Active Formulation: Combines flumethrin and imidacloprid embedded within a durable polymer matrix.

  • Diffusion Dynamics: Active ingredients are released continuously at low, controlled concentrations, distributing across the lipid layer of the animal's skin and coat.

  • Systemic Exposure: Negligible systemic absorption. The active compounds remain dermal/topical, minimising systemic toxicity risks and making it a suited option for pets sensitive to systemic ectoparasiticides.

3. What safety features and compliance mechanisms are built into the collar?

Designed for daily wear with a high safety threshold for active animals, Prevexto integrates a dual-safety mechanism system:

  • Controlled expansion mechanism widens the collar if a pet gets trapped.

  • «V» breakaway point (cats & small dogs) to prevent choking.

  • Double security system for cats

4. How does water exposure impact product longevity and environmental safety?

  • Water Resistance: The polymer matrix retains its structural integrity during minor water exposure (e.g., rain or brief splashing) without washing off the dermal lipid layer.

  • Longevity & Stewardship:  For maximum duration of activity and to promote environmental safety (preventing active ingredient runoff into environmental waterways), advise clients to remove the collar prior to bathing or swimming, reapplying once the coat is fully dry.

*8 months for ticks, 7-8 months for adult fleas
