Product FAQ

  • 1. What class of drug is milbemycin and can I use with other similar molecules?

Milbemycin belongs to the avermectin class of anthelmintics. Moxidectin and selamectin also belong to this group and the corresponding SPCs for the medicines should be consulted for guidance on concurrent use. For example, selamectin products can be used with milbemycin, but moxidectin containing products are not recommended to be used concurrently with milbemycin.

  • 2. What is the flavouring?

Real chicken liver flavour is used to improve compliance and help owners worm their pets.

  • 3. What is the dose of Milpro in dogs?

For Milpro Puppy the weight range is 0.5kg to 10kg. With one tablet covering 0.5kg to 5kg. Two tablets are needed for puppies or small dogs weighing between 5 and 10kg.

Milpro Adult Dogs - 1 tablet for dogs weighing between 5 and 25kg.

  • 4. What is the dose for Milpro in cats?

    Using Milpro Kittens and Small Cats - 0.5 - 1 kg = ½ tablet; >1 - 2 kg = 1 tablet

    Using Milpro Adult Cat - 2 - 4 kg = ½ tablet; >4 - 8 kg = 1 tablet

  • 5. Can Milpro be used in pregnancy?

Milpro is a generic hybrid and as such the trials carried out for the registration dossier are assessed for ethical purposes and only essential and critical studies are permitted. As milbemycin and praziquantel has been previously studied in the reference product for use in pregnancy a trial for Milpro was not performed. Therefore the SPC states - use during pregnancy and lactation only according to a benefit / risk assessment by the responsible veterinarian.
