Product Specifications & Treatment Protocol
Active Ingredient: Thiamazole
Pharmaceutical Form: 5 mg/ml honey flavoured oral solution

Indication: Thyronorm® is indicated for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.
This condition, resulting from an overactive thyroid gland, is believed to be the most common hormonal disease in cats worldwide. In the UK, it is thought to affect over 10% of cats5.
Dosage & Monitoring
Starting Dose: 5mg thiamazole per day, generally divided into two administrations (morning and evening).
Compliance Note: If compliance is a challenge, once-daily dosing is considered acceptable. A 2.5mg dose given twice daily may be more efficacious in the short term.
Optimising Stabilisation: Use the same dosing schedule relative to feeding daily.
Monitoring Schedule: Testing should be assessed before initiating treatment and at 3, 6, 10, and 20 weeks, and then every 3 months thereafter. Monitoring includes haematology, biochemistry, and serum total T4.
